Description: Children and Family Services (CFS) Emergency Response is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to receive and assess allegations of child abuse, neglect or exploitation. Each report is assessed to determine the level of response/information required to protect the child(ren). Children and Family Services will respond to all reports that rise to the standard of investigation within 24 hours, or within ten calendar days as assessed. If an in-person response is not required, the report will be documented in our computer system. Any incident of alleged or suspected child abuse, or a reasonable suspicion of abuse, which comes to attention, should immediately be reported.

Tapestry Family Services has a range of services to meet the needs of your child that are provided by Licensed Therapists and Registered Interns utilizing evidence-based and trauma informed therapeutic interventions and practices.  Tapestry Family Services work with individual families to create a unique and specially designed therapeutic approach to meet the needs of you and the child. Most services are covered if your child has MediCal and meets medical necessity for our level of treatment services. In addition, for children without MediCal or other types of insurance, Tapestry Family Services will work to identify the appropriate funding source to help your child receive the care that he/she needs. Most children qualify for one of our other grant-funded programs, which include therapy, rehabilitation services, child-advocacy, collaboration with community partners, and transportation, if needed.

Youth Action Program

MCYP’s experienced Youth Workers provide support services and activities in the schools and in communities. Services are designed to meet the needs of students and schools and may include one on one crisis counseling, peer support groups, evidence based prevention education for anti-bullying programs, alcohol and other drugs, mental health awareness, communication skills, and Positive Youth Development prevention activities.


Counseling Services

Mendocino County Youth Project’s Licensed Clinicians, Associate Marriage and Family Therapists, Associate Social Workers, and trainees  are trained and committed to providing services to children, youth, young adults and families, while utilizing proven best practices and evidence based therapy methods, provided by professional and skilled therapists. Counseling and Therapeutic Services are provided at no-cost for children and youth up to age 24 who have Medi-Cal, Beacon or who are eligible for other grant funded services.


Transition Age Youth Services

LEVINE HOUSE  is a six bed, Transitional Support Program for AB 12 eligible youth, ages 18-21, referred by MCDSS/HHSA Family & Children Services.  AB 12 youth may reside at Levine House for up to six months. While youth live at Levine House they are provided daily Life Coaching, and individualized support where staff coordinate services with social workers, case managers, therapists and other supportive programs that can be of benefit to the youth. Non-AB 12 homeless youth may contact MCYP and apply for the Levine House program (located in Ukiah).

Specialty Mental Health Services: trained mental health professionals provide assessment, plan development, rehabilitation, therapy, case management and medication support services to individuals with serious emotional disturbance (youth) or severe and persistent mental illness (adult). Services are provided with a strength- based focus in order to increase community members’ ability to be successful in the community and to reduce impairments related to mental illness. Redwood Community Services’ provides services in Mendocino, Lake, and Humboldt counties. Our clinicians utilize evidenced-based practices in their treatment modalities, including Trauma -Informed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, among others.

Stepping Stones: provides specialty mental health services for Transitional Age Youth (TAY) in Ukiah, CA. The Stepping Stones program includes transitional housing components and originated as such in 1999. In 2014, TAY services were rebranded as Stepping Stones and out-patient mental health services began occurring out of the Stepping Stones clinic.

Interpersonal Skills Training Center (ISTC): The Interpersonal Skills Training Center (The Ranch) is a unique program which focuses on behavior modification and socialization for children (ages 8-18), while confronting their individualized behavioral objectives, in a fun and natural setting. The ranch offers a team model for children to learn how to work with others, and build a sense of community, respect, and safety. Arrowhead Ranch provides a remote setting that utilizes a variety of challenging activities to engage children in working towards their goals, as established by their therapist. Some of our activities include horses, team-building, rock-climbing, cooking, art, and peer discussion groups and games.

In addition to being a part of a team, each child is offered individual time with a Rehabilitation Specialist, to bolster a sense of support, and inspire change in relation to issues that they may be struggling with in their lives.

Healing Center on Main: Redwood Community Services’ Healing Center on Main, located at our coast BHS site, offers classes that focus on the many ways one can improve their own health. Through group learning and the sharing of information and experiences, participants work towards individual goals while learning to utilize their natural resources and supports.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT): PCIT is an intensive treatment program that improves the quality of parent- child relationships and provides parents with skills to manage the challenging behaviors of young children. It is designed for children between two and eight years old who are living with their biological, foster, or adoptive parent (or soon to be reunited) and exhibit behavioral challenges.

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS): TBS is a short-term program that focuses on changing a child’s behavior, while emphasizing the child’s strengths. TBS works in collaboration with the child, the child’s caregivers and the primary clinician to address 1 to 3 behaviors that jeopardize the child’s ability to remain in their current home.

Description: Project Sanctuary has become a full service domestic violence crisis intervention responder available to the entire county. Walk-in and and scheduled counseling is available in Ukiah and Ft. Bragg, with scheduled counseling available in Willits, Booneville, and Point Arena. Other services include legal advocacy for survivors seeking restraining orders, accompaniment and advocacy for victims experiencing an evidence collection exam at the ER, transitional housing, 24/7 crisis line, support groups, prevention education, and safe and confidential emergency shelter.
